Minimum wages are increasing in several provinces next week. PaySource® subscribers can look at the September 11 issue of Inside PaySource for details or consult the Minimum Wage Across Canada Chart in PaySource.

We also want to remind PaySource subscribers that, over the coming months, the Canada Revenue Agency will be updating dozens of tax forms and guides for 2018 that are essential for payroll. Over the next several months, The Fair and Family-Friendly Workplaces Act (Bill 17) will bring the most significant changes to Alberta’s employment and labour laws in 30 years. AODA update: Your next accessibility report is due soon

The next accessibility report must be submitted by December 31, 2017 by organizations in the private and non-profit sectors with 20+ employees and all public-sector organizations in Ontario. The provincial government requires this report to be completed so required organizations can confirm they have met current accessibility obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ADOA).

We recently updated Accessibility Standards PolicyPro® (ASPP) to outline what’s new for this reporting cycle—such as details on the new online form organizations must complete—plus tips to ensure you report compliance with AODA regulations on time to avoid administrative penalties, inspections, director’s orders and fines. New policy on workplace violence and harassment for non-profits and charities

Depending on your jurisdiction, various laws (i.e., human rights, employment standards and occupational health and safety) may affect your obligation to prevent workplace violence and harassment in your workplace. This obligation does not only affect the for profit sector but also the not-for-profit sector.

We've updated Not-for-Profit PolicyPro® with a new commentary on how this topic has an impact for the not-for-profit sector and a new policy on workplace violence and harassment so you can be ready to meet your evolving compliance obligations. Service announcement: HRtrack support ending soon

HRtrack® was acquired by Collage Technologies Inc. on April 1, 2017. If you are currently using this service, here is what you need to know about the future of HRtrack:

  • Support for HRtrack in its current form will end on October 1, 2017
  • HRtrack will be discontinued and the licensing mechanism will cease to function on April 1, 2018
  • Your data will still reside in the same tables in the HRtrack database; no records will be deleted
  • While the software may still work, access will be restricted to the first 10 employee records entered into the software
  • Your data will still be accessible/exportable using a database application such as Microsoft Access
  • HRtrack users may transfer their information to Collage's cloud-based employee-management platform. Collage advisors will provide a white-glove onboarding service free of charge to ensure that your data is transferred and set up on Collage's platform with minimal effort.
